The week of Thanksgiving, my best friend’s kitty passed away. Since that time, several of my other friends have lost their furry companions as well.
I remember when I lost my own kitty, CC. She’d developed redirected aggression somehow and ended up a bit, well, schizophrenic I guess. One moment she’d be super sweet, the next she’d be yowling and attacking me. I was heartbroken, but we had to have her put down.
My friend gave me a very special gift after CC died. It was a frame with room for a photo and a space for her collar. That frame is super special to me and I cry a little whenever I see it.
I wanted to do the same for my friend, so decided to see what I could find. From picture frames with poems that made me cry to garden stones, these inexpensive items will help memorialize your loved pet or make a great gift for someone going through the healing process.
PawPrints Memorial Tag Frame
I’ll admit it. I was actually searching on my phone for something like this while waiting at Walmart and, after reading the poem, I teared up so quickly I had to stop looking at my phone, and pretend to be fascinated by the television commercials so the other shoppers wouldn’t realize I was on the point of bawling. If you have ever lost a loved pet, this poem will touch your very soul.
Pearhead Dog or Cat Pet Collar Keepsake Frame
This is what I bought for my friend. It’s simple, but a special way to remember her kitty. From what I gather, the space for the collar is a bit small, so likely better for a cat or small dog than a large one. But you could likely make some adjustments as well.
Willow Tree Angel of Friendship
This is so precious! For those with a Willow Tree collection (and I’ve always wanted to start one), this would be perfect.
Loving Memory Dog Memorial Christmas Ornament
I love this ornament! What a sweet way to always have your precious fur baby present for the holidays. It’s pretty inexpensive too, so could be an add-on to one of the other items as well.
Paw Print Pet Memorial Stone
Made of resin, but looks like stone, this memorial plaque can be used indoors or outdoors. If your pet had a favorite place in your yard or garden, how special to put in a small flower bed with this as the centerpiece. Special memorial.
Pet Memorial Ceramic Picture Frame
This was my second choice. Not as much of a yank on the heart strings, yet still stirs sweet memories. This would also work well for a dog or a cat.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t think this post would be so hard to write! Looking over these products makes me tear up and miss my CC as well as think about missing any one of our five current fur babies. Pets are special creatures and I’m thankful every day for my quintet of unconditional love.
